My Review of Ken’s Choice 2006 Double Oaked Whisky by Chichibu Distillery

Ken’s Choice 2006 is a testament to the artistry and innovation of the Chichibu Distillery. This limited-edition, double-oaked American-style whiskey is a product of a transcontinental journey, having matured in both Kentucky and Japan. Distilled in 2006 and bottled in 2017, over a decade of maturation. Few bottles remain available in auctions only; you could acquire one for a pretty penny.

About Chichibu Distillery: Founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, Chichibu Distillery has quickly gained recognition in the whisky world for its distinctive, high-quality single malts. Located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, Chichibu has become known for its meticulous craftsmanship and use of both local and international casks, including Japanese Mizunara oak, which imparts unique flavors to the whisky. Despite its young age, the distillery’s dedication to traditional methods, combined with Akuto’s vision and innovation, has led to Chichibu whiskies being highly sought after globally. The small but passionate team produces whisky in limited quantities, adding to its allure among collectors and whisky enthusiasts.
