Paul John Brilliance lives up to its name with a radiant golden amber hue and slow lingering legs.

Nose
Sweet greeting of toasted oak and spice, a hint of caramel and vanilla.

Palate
On the palate, Brilliance delivers a silky mouthfeel that’s immediately warm and welcoming. The honeyed sweetness takes center stage, followed by cocoa, buttery biscuit, tropical fruits, and orange marmalade. A gentle spice builds mid-palate, with whispers of cinnamon and clove complementing the fruity core. The oak influence is present but never overpowering, adding a layer of toasted vanilla to the experience.

Finish
The finish is medium in length and very warm. The alcohol gives a burn but there is a good sense of balance lingering with malted honey and vanilla, with a soft touch of oak and spice. 

Overall Impression

Paul John Brilliance is a pleasant, unpeated single malt with a bright, refined flavor profile. While enjoyable, it fell short of my expectations. The finish was a bit hot, suggesting that additional maturation might enhance its overall quality. Nevertheless, it’s a whiskey worth exploring for those who appreciate easygoing, flavorful drams.
