Tasting Notes

Appearance

Dark red oak color and an amber-grade syrup appearance.

Nose

Fresh berries like blueberries, strawberries, and currants, with an orange scent and a cigar note lingering behind. Very light caramel aromas with vanilla extract and light cereal scents with heather are also present. Classic Dalmore chocolate, raisins, and toffee nuts are also noted.

Palate

Gentle and dry with layers of dark plums, raisins soaked with an orange liqueur, savory spices like nutmeg, almost a cumin flavor and definitely 90% or higher dark chocolate. The sweetness on the tongue leaves relatively quickly and goes right towards the savory side of things with almost a smoked meat or a roasted duck a l’orange.

Finish

Long and lingering with layers of flavors.

Overall Impression

The Dalmore Limited Release Selected By Daniel Boulud was a complex and flavorful whisky. A sweet dried fruit, evolving into a savory spice with a warm toffee and rich chocolatey undertone. Sure to please fans of The Dalmore, this whisky is excellent for a special occasion dram.
